Wrongful Death

Wrongful death is a death caused by another as the result of carelessness, negligence, fault or misconduct of an individual, company or organization. Wrongful death is in contrast to death from natural causes, such as old age, illness or disease.

Some examples of wrongful death situations include death caused by any number of vehicle accidents through the fault of another, such as death caused by a common car accident, drunk driver accident, truck accident, bus accident, hit and run accident, pedestrian accident, and workplace or job site or other work-related accidents, elevator accident, escalator accident, even a slip and fall.

These are just a few examples of accidents that might cause wrongful death.

A wrongful death claim is usually brought by an immediate family member of the deceased such as a spouse, parent or child, or the administrator of the decedent's estate. If you are an immediate family member of someone who may have died because of another, you may have a wrongful death claim, and you be entitled to compensation such as medical, funeral and burial expenses, replacement of the deceased's lost wages and benefits, future support, conscious pain and suffering, loss of companionship and other damages.
